Mini styled Audi A1 nears release
The small Audi with big aspirations has finally arrived in the shape of a new mini sized A1, which produces their first ever compact car.
Arriving nearly 10 years after BMW launched the first generation Mini, the A1 gives Audi a new contender in the premium-styled small car category, providing fresh competition in this segment.
With some 18,000 models expected to be sold every year, Audi is pulling out all the stops. There’s a wide range of turbocharged engines – the 104bhp 1.6-litre TDI diesel, petrol 1.2-litre TFSI and 1.4-litre TFSI, with a long list of options for personalisation and a tempting price that starts from £13,140.
With an attractive chunky shape, bold front end and a coupe-styled sloping tailgate, drivers will be easily tempted into test driving the new mini A1 model.
All the SE, Sport and S line models come with alloy wheels, stop-start, air-con and a six-speaker CD stereo with iPod connectivity to provide appealing characteristics for drivers.
Inside, the dashboard is covered in a neat soft-touch moulding, with the latest pop-up MMI cabin control system from the flagship A8 available too. Additional extras include 3D sat-nav, Bluetooth and a 20GB music hard drive. Though designed as a ‘mini’ version in the Audi range, driver and passengers are given more than sufficient space to enjoy journeys.
A 250Nm of torque from just 1,500rpm and a slick five-speed gearbox, provides an economically-friendly vehicle for those short town drives, producing an incredible 70.6mpg combined fuel economy or emissions of 105g/km.
Additional extras combined with slick design make the Audi A1 a very attractive proposal, being tipped as the grown-up small car that offers a quality experience, never seen in this class before.
