Audi recuperate energy in new models.
In conjunction with the recuperation television advert, Audi are keen on continuing to demonstrate the environmentally friendly technology installed in their latest models.
With the phrase “We save some of this energy and use it, when needed, to recharge the battery”, Audi express their motives towards recuperation and innovation.
The energy recovery system uses deceleration phases to convert kinetic energy into electrical energy. When the car accelerates, the battery directs the temporarily stored energy back into the vehicle, to relieve the alternator and thereby save fuel.
With stop-start technology already developing through the model range, the energy recover system promises to combine fuel efficiency a step further, without disturbing the driving pleasure.
The energy recovery system already comes standard on various Audi models, including the A3 1.4 TFSI with manual transmission, A4, A5 Coupé and A5 Cabriolet with two-litre engine and manual transmission, the A6 and the Audi Q5 and Q7.
From modern power train technologies to highly efficient air-conditioning, the focus is to improve the entire vehicle’s mechanical, thermal and electrical energy management capabilities.
Audi’s efficiency technologies are systematically geared to the driver’s needs and employs a host of measures to minimise driving resistance and optimize aerodynamics.
These benefits are made tangible for the driver by a range of innovative assistance systems, with the standard specification of many current Audi models already featuring numerous efficiency technologies such as the Audi valve-lift system, high-efficiency transmission and tyres with optimised rolling resistance.
The continued progression of Audi technology means that by 2012 plans are implemented to lower the fuel consumption of its model range by 20 per cent compared with the 2007 level.
