Clean diesel technology

Audi is pioneering the introduction of the world's cleanest diesel technology to the UK in the Q7 SUV models to help reduce the Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions, regarded as being dramatically more harmful than Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

With the model already available, the TDI engine is capable of removing up to 90 per cent of NOx particles from exhaust gases.

The Audi Q7 is the first passenger car in the UK that possesses this advanced system, and already complies with proposed EU6 emissions limits that are not due to come into force in Europe until 2014.

The newest design combines components of a new, common-rail injection system, innovative pressure sensors in the combustion chamber and a high performance exhaust recirculation system to produce more environmentally-friendly emission.

Promoted for the first time in the Frankfurt show alongside the Audi A4 last month, it has been uniquely designed to maximise engine efficiency and optimise the after-treatment of exhaust gas.

The cleanest diesel technology will also be available in the best-selling A4. A package of technologies provides innovative solutions for engines and the after-treatment of exhaust and looks set to be a popular choice amongst customer.

Clean diesel technology is just one of a number of developments in the Audi campaign to continue producing new models in support of more environmentally-friendly vehicles. Reducing carbon emissions and improving fuel efficiency are a centre focus for the Audi production line.
